    1. Rachel grew up in a home of domestic violence, which she survived with the help of her good friend, P. J. We follow her in her adult life, interspersed with her childhood memories. Rachel has it all -- a wonderful husband and college-age daughter. Her world collapses overnight when something totally unexpected happens. I was instantly caught up in Rachel's world and thoroughly enjoyed this book.

    2. This book wasn't what I was expecting. It was recommended to me and I was told about all the Dallas references - which there are plenty of and I really enjoyed having a reference. Only when I started reading did I realize that I was never given an idea of what the story was about. Turns out, I loved it! It has a good story of struggle and friendship.

    3. For native and wanna-be Texans, this novel is a fun romp through Dallas with side trips to Austin. It's a big story with big characters. What saves it from being just another BIG TEXAS story is the plot which deals with sensitive issues, including loss of a child. The main characters are Jewish, and the book provides insight into their faith.

    4. What a super read! Everything from laughs to an inspirational story of overcoming depression to an inside glimpse of the warmth of Jewish ritual to our national horror at the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Please read this book, you will be so glad you did!

    5. Bobbi Kornblit is a great storyteller. This book is a page-turner. I liked her characters, and I enjoyed the Dallas history lesson. The cover says this book is a "Southern romp", but I think that's selling it short. It takes on some serious issues and deals with them well.
